The Trident system has already cost many billions and now the government, backed by Labour, is committed to renewing it at an additional cost of over £200 billion.  Since 1945 the prestige exercise of being a nuclear power has cost us dearly and now Trident is planned to skim the cream of the nation’s resources well into the future, so that we can play our puny part in mutually assured destruction
The shut-down at Gatwick had its substantial positive side.  It gave our poor bloody polluted atmosphere a bit of a breather. But what an indictment of our multi-billion so-called defence system. All the Queen’s horses and all the Queen’s men could not even shoot down an annoying battery-powered toy.
