Starmer’s labour is a limp lettuce leaf, just as tory as the Tories.
That’s no surprise as his bedfellows are BARON Mandelson (Ithrice forced out of the Cabinet for dodgy financial dealings), SIR Anthony Blair, Knight Commander of the Order of the Garter(discredited by the Chilcot Inquiry) and Alistair Campbell(|Blair’s chief mouthpiece). Thus Starmer’s ear is daily bent by Labour nobility, as well as the big business moguls he consorts with in preference to trade union leaders.
He is assuming the premiership will fall into his lap and Labour will not have to stretch itself to win the next election because the Tories will lose it.
He has ridiculed Rishi Sunack for claiming to be the Change Prime Minister and well he might because he has himself U-turned on most policies to which he was committed.
At flip-flopping he beats Sunack hands down. Starmer’s record proves it:
Ending university tuition fees: dumped.
Re-nationalising water, power and Royal Mail: dumped.
Heavier taxation on the rich: dumped.
Ending the 2-child benefit cap: dumped.
Blocking further privatisation of the NHS: dumped. His limp excuse is thst the NHS needs reform. Baloney. What it needs is lots more money.
Bi-partisan support for HS2: dumped.
Ending the charitable status of private schools: largely dumped.
Perhaps the most egregious U-turn of all is HS2, because it is so unnecessary and so damaging to the future of the country.
That major infrastructure project was supported by both parties. Just because the Tories have gone cold on it does not mean Labour’s support has to change.
On the contrary, there is every reason for Labour to declare now that they will continue with it and therefore the Tories must stop undoing work already undertaken.
The North of England, which suffered most under Thatcher, needs the economic revival that HS2 would help to provide.
Sunack has determined Labour policy by pulling the plug on HS2. He should not be allowed to get away with it.
But the legacy of Thatcher, which moulded Blair’s New Labour (as Thatcher herself boasted) has moulded Starmer’s policies.
Left policies, under Corbyn, in 2017, won Labour its best results since 1945. Starmer’s short-term memory obliterates that bit of history and he would like all of us to forget it too.
He is just as much a scoundrel as Boris Johnson and Tony Blair.
