At the 2024 United Nations General Assembly, Netanyahu made his most vituperative attack yet on the organisation,

Having heard his performances before, as he stood to speak, hundreds of delegates walked out.

He repeatedly referred to Israel as the ‘Jewish state’, as if the 1.8 million (largely Muslim) Palestinians to not exist.

Well, since the passage of the Jewish Nation State law in 2018,   which declares Israel to be the nation state of the Jewish people, non-Jews are effectively non-citizens. Israel is an apartheid state.

Netanyahu declared that, “the singling out of the one and only Jewish state continues to be a moral stain on theUN.

“It has made this once respected institution contemptible in the eyes of decent people everywhere.

“But for the Palestinians (who happen to be 20 per cent of the population of Israel), this UN house of darkness is home court. They know that in this swamp of anti-Semitic bile, there is an automatic majority willing to demonise the Jewishstate for anything.

“In this anti-Israel flat-earth society, any false charge, any outlandish allegation can muster a majority.”

Netanyahu made no mention of the fact that Israel has persistently ignored UN resolutions, with impunity, thanks to the consistenr complicity of the USA and UK, in particular.

During his speech he let the cat out of the bag, by holding up a map showing his concept of ‘Greater Israel’, constructed by stealing land from neighbouring countries and populating it with Jewish settlers, permanently protected by occupying Israeli military.

This explains his opposition to a ceasefire in  Gaza
