LITTER HOLIDAY?  Forget it.  Schools may be out, but still drivers chuck rubbish aplenty from their passing vehicles, my visual evidence being that it is usually men marking their territory like pissing dogs.

The fly-tip shown here is garden rubbish dumped on the Common.  It includes Leylandii foliage, proving that it has been brought from someone’s garden, because this conifer grows nowhere on the Common.

Those who create litter and who fly-tip their rubbish are showing utter contempt for all who cannot avoid seeing the mess.  They are, of course, showing contempt for those who have to clear their mess and contempt for our shared environment. They are also showing cowardly contempt for the law against littering, cowardly because they can be confident of not being caught. Thus, they render themselves contemptuous in the eyes of the rest of us.
